Just a quick little update: Patrick has recovered very well from his surgery and can eat anything now! We cooked steak on Friday night with Kat and Dave (though our evening was cut short) and have been eating tenderloin and baked potatoes this week! He has to get a stitch from one of his incisional sites taken out tomorrow, but other than that he is good to go! I'm so thankful to have my hubby back!!!
*Graphic, beware*
After a rough weekend with Wrigley who was pooping just blood that smelled horribly, he is on the mend too! Poor Kat and Dave had to chill out at our house instead of our planned game night after dinner while Patrick and I took Wrigley to the emergency vet clinic where they gave him some fluids and flagyl. It was a long night, but we got some more Flagyl and two other medications to give to Wrigs to clear up all his issues. Good thing we won't have to have any more elective surgeries since apparantly anesthesia and certain pain medications do not agree with our baby. I'm just glad we are over it all!! I have never been so excited for regular poop before!!

Wrigley doesn't like e-collars
Wrigley had surgery today and absolutely hates his e-collar! He will
not move at all when he is wearing his collar. He will simply whine until I go pick him up or remove his e-collar. So, right now, we are sitting on the couch and he is sleeping in my lap. I hope he heals quickly! I am glad we cancelled his surgery last week since I would have had 2 sick boys! I don't think if I could have handled it! Needless to say, we will be laying low for the next 10 days.

Chicken Divan
Last night for dinner, in addition to making ribs, I made one of my favorite childhood dishes, chicken divan. Mmm, I always made my mom cook chicken divan for my birthday for as long as I could remember. I took a few pictures of the process and it's super easy to make. Patrick was actually able to eat a bite of it today and didn't get sick! We are both so excited that the cholecystectomy seems to be working thus far! We're still keeping our fingers crossed as Patrick is healing right now and the real test will be once he is finished with his low fat diet.
First, a little broccoli then some boiled chicken.
Add the chicken on top of the broccoli and top with cheese.
Top with chicken divan mixture and then bread crumbs.
Pulled right out of the oven! Yum!

Gimme those baby back, baby back, baby back ribs!!
Tonight I went ahead and cooked some ribs for my dinner for the next
two nights after I get home from work. This is my second attempt at
cooking ribs and last time I learned that the second night is better
since the ribs have time to marinate. One of my coworkers, Carolyn,
gave me her recipe after she let me taste her ribs one day at work. I
am so lucky to have such great coworkers (she also cooked me another
lunch of ribs and potato salad one day)! Yum! Anyways, I hope that
they turn out well tomorrow night!

Going Under the Knife
Well, my baby celebrated his birthday on Thursday and unfortunately, he couldn't eat any cake! Patrick loves a low key birthday and we opened his gifts after enjoying some Jack Bauer of 24. To solve Patrick's problem of not being able to eat any cake (technically, he hasn't really had a meal since the weekend after St. Patrick's Day), we met with a general surgeon and scheduled his lap chole for Tuesday morning. We are hoping that this will solve all of his problems not being able to eat after having his gallbladder removed. I'm not going to lie, I really wish I could sit in on his surgery, but I don't think it will be allowed. The lap chole should be a simple outpatient procedure unless something goes on terribly wrong and they would have to convert it to an open procedure. Let's pray for everything to go well and Patrick to have a smooth operation and soon be able to start eating again!
I love this man so much and I hope we can get him feeling better and then we can celebrate his birthday with some sushi and friends soon!
Please keep Patrick in your prayers this week! Thank you!
